Birkie Training Group Mid-Week Winter Training Session 2

Course Content

The focus of this class will be on developing ski specific fitness and improving technique and efficiency on skis. It will also include current practical info and tips on topics like equipment, waxing, clothing, stretching, hydration and nutrition and race strategies to help you plan and ski your best Birkie yet. 

You should have average to excellent fitness, have experience cross-country skiing and not be a complete beginner.

Classes will be held at Strathcona Wilderness Centre, Gold Bar Park, or Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, depending on where the best ski conditions are. Participants will be given an email or phone call with at least one day’s notice of the location for the next lesson.

10 classes of 2 hours each on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, starting January 10, 2023.

January 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, and 31, 2023
February 2, 7, and 9, 2023

Minimum 6 to run the course
No refunds if the course is run, including for illness/COVID

Location:

The Instructor will notify you at least one day before start of class where the first class will be held.

Instructor:
Susan Yackulic is a Level 3 CANSI ski instructor and NCCP Master Coach Developer. She has skied the Birkie several times and raced on the Alberta Ski Team, as well as in the Masters World Cup in 2022. Also a retired school teacher, she takes great pride in helping her students become the best that they can be and have fun while participating!
