Course Content:
This mid-day program focuses on developing ski specific fitness and improving technique and efficiency on skis. It includes current practical info and tips on topics like equipment, waxing, clothing, stretching, hydration and nutrition and race strategies to help you plan and ski your best Birkie yet. An activation warm up will be followed by technique and drills moving to a focused ski.
Scheduled lessons will be between Strathcona Wilderness Centre and Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area. An email prior (night before) will communicate the exact location.
A couple of long ski days will be held at Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area with dates and locations by mutual agreement, based on weather and ski conditions.
Skiers must have at least an average or better level of fitness. As for experience, this program is NOT for the beginner skier. A minimum of 2 years skiing experience is required to participate. For those new to the sport, less than a year of experience, or novices, local ski clubs offer how to ski programs.

- Wednesday Evenings, October 18 to February 7.
- Wednesday Days, December 13 to February 7 (this session).

Registration, via Zone4, opens 6pm, September 22 and closes midnight December 11, 2023.

CANSI Level 3, NCCP Master Coach Developer, retired Alberta public school teacher and college instructor.
Susan has a history of skiing on our Alberta Ski team, Skiing at the World Masters, as well as coaching at the provincial and national level. Although Susan has worked with elite athletes she enjoys teaching novice skiers and finds great joy in finding ways to assist skiers of all abilities meet their skiing goals
CANSI = Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors
